FA Lenses are fixed focal length imaging lenses built for inspection and robotic vision. Each lens is offered either with a single focal length or with a fixed angular field of view, so you can specify by working geometry or by the scene coverage your system needs. They use a standard C-Mount connection, cover the visible band from 400-700nm, and support sensor resolutions from 5-45MP across multiple sensor formats. Iris and focus are both manual, with a focusing range of 0.1m – Infinity.

Designed for fixed inspection and robot-mounted cameras

In most factory vision cells, the camera, the part and the lighting stay in a known relationship. A fixed focal length lens suits that setup. With no zoom mechanism, there is less to drift, and you set the field of view once at commissioning. The manual iris lets you trade depth of field against light throughput to match your illumination. The manual focus lets you lock the lens at the working distance of the cell.

The two configurations cover two common ways of specifying a vision system:

  • Single focal length: suited when you are working from a known sensor size and working distance and need a particular magnification.
  • Fixed angular field of view: suited when the requirement is defined by how much of the scene the camera has to see, for example a robot-mounted camera that must cover a pick area or a conveyor width.

The family supports a range of sensor formats, from compact machine-vision sensors through to large-format sensors: 1/1.8″, 2/3″, 1″, 1.1″, 1.2″, 4/3″ and 1.4″. You can pair the lens with the camera already used in your line. The full catalogue, with part number, focal length, resolution and format for each lens, is in the specification table on this page.

Applications

Whether you’re building an inline inspection station or adding vision guidance to a robot, FA Lenses are used in:

  • Food inspection: checking fill level, seal integrity, labeling, foreign material and product presentation on packaging and processing lines.
  • Machine vision: dimensional gauging, presence/absence checks, code reading and defect detection in electronics, automotive and general manufacturing. They are also used for robotic pick-and-place and guidance.
  • Laser scanning: imaging and verification alongside laser processing and scanning systems, where a camera monitors part position or process results.

FA Lenses also pair with other components in the Wavelength range, including area scan and line scan cameras, bandpass filters, polarizers and machine vision lighting. You can source the optical path of a vision station from one supplier.
